Now I hope you have went out and got a boost gauge by now. If not than do NOT do this mod. This is a simple one I have done it and other then fluttering I have noticed only good. Fluttering can be a bad thing that is why (unless you aren't worried about your DSM breaking) you want a boost gauge. The fluttering ishappening because the vacuum and boost are trying to get at the right levels. There are alot of aftermarket BOVs that will flutter thats why I myself am not to worried about my car.
1. Turn your car off and hide the keys in your pocket.
2. Locate your Blow Off Valve(BOV).
3. Disconnect the BOV from the BOV dumb tube.
4. Disconnect the BOV from the upper intercooler pipe.
5. Put the BOV back on only put the side that was on the dump tube onto the intercooler and visa-versa.
When doing this be careful of the little tube and nipple that goes to the throttle body. Do not break it. If the tube is too short going to the throttle body to flip it around without kinking it then you will need to get another tube or forget about doing this all together. This Mod came about due to a friend of mine investigating his stock BOV with another big name brand BOV and noticed thatthe stock BOVs valve was held shut with a spring while the name brand BOV appeared to be held shut with boost pressure and opened with vacuum. In other words the way the aftermarket BOV worked was backwards of the stock one. So he came to reason that, maybe if we flipped the stock BOV around it would stop the booost leak (the stock BOV leaks at 9 lbs). So we tried it I flipped drove my carup the street and noticed the difference immediatly. It held great. Now with all this said I would not suggest doing this instead of getting a better BOV but if you are broke like I am all the time than I would tell you to go ahead and do it. But beware if for some reason yours doesnt work likemine yuo can cause back pressure which will ruin turbo and probably your engine thats why you want a boost gauge and also you need to be very easy on the gas a first watch your gauge make sure the boost is let off when you liift off the gas and you should beok if the boost builds and doesnt vent I would suggest killing you engine quickly to stop build up. Here is the pic of what your BOV should look like when done:
Forgot to give my friend from TotalEclipseSD.com (car club in San Diego) Danny Boy credit for thinking this one up. Thank-you
