FREE MOD #3

Alright so you want more, thats ok I got a couple more for you. Once again this is for the 1 and 2G tirbo's, I am sorry but thats what I know the most about. Once again this is a very easy mod though this one costs you less then $10.00.

1. Go to your favorite autoparts store (kragen-autozone-napa-etc.) and buy a breather filter its a minitature cone filter, and a 1/8 inch cap(I think its a eigth inch anywayz).

2. Open hood and look at the left side of the motor(passenger side). You see the hose about in the middle of your valve cover that connects to your turbo inlet hose? Yeah thats the one, what that thing does is let oil get into your inlet hose which then goes into your turbo then into your intercooler where it stays and builds up causing air flow probs in the intercooler along with possible clogging. There dealership will tell you its there so that the air from the cover recircs into the system...which it does and is fine but it lets the oil into your system as well which is not fine.

3. Disconnect the hose from the inlet and the engine and through it away(unless you want to revert back to stock but if you were going to do that why are you at a tuner forum??).

4. Place the filter you bought on to the now open nipple(yes i said nipple thats what it is called, and no you dont wantto put your mouth on it you will get nothing but oil from it) on the valve cover.

5. Place the end cap on the now open nipple on the inlet hose.

And your done. Now if you don't have the cap screwing a bolt in there will work to if you want. Also if you want to find one and do it there are "oil catch cans" for this mod. The only difference with those are that the hose stays on and you splice the "catch can" into the hose. I do not know how effective the "catch can" is but i can promise if you dont keep it cleaned out it will start leaking oil into your system. The only down side to this mod is that you will get some oil spray inside your engine by the filter on the heat shield on top and some on the motor. Personnally I think it isn't that big of a deal, I go for performance not looks but it is easy to clean off since I do keep my engine bay clean.

The only downfall to this is, if you are getting enough blow-by to make a difference, you going to get an oily mess under the hood over time like he says. Best thing to do is to get a catch can, it takes a long time to get the can full because very little oil will come through it. If you dont want a catch can or an oily mess under the hood, attach long enough hose to the nipple and place the small filter down low so most of the oil will blow out under the car.
