What is DSM
This is a very common question from DSM noobs and no DSM related forum is complete without a post telling you what DSM is.
DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors. A joint venture of Mitsubishi and Chrysler Corp. Basically the companies wanted to build a good quality performance vehicle that people would be able to mod and work on, then they decided to work together and DSM was the result.
The way a vehicle is determined to be a DSM varies for group to group however for the most part it is the same.
The most popular DSM vehicles are the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Plymouth Laser, and Eagle Talon. Less known but definiatly DSMs are Mitsubishi 3000GT, Dodge Stealth, and the Mitsubishi Galant. There are some vehicles that are border line and could almost be considered DSMs but most DSMers will never call them a DSM and that is the Dodge/Plymouth Neon, and the Dodge Stratus. The reason behind some 9altough few) people calling this DSMs is that they share the DSM motors either the 420A or the 6cyl (tell me the code so I can switch and put the code in) out of the 3 and 4gs.
The Mitsubishi EVO and the Dodge SRT4 are not DSMs. Dsmers love the EVO (for the most part) because you can use alot of the parts from the older EVOs on the 4g63 and hate the SRT4 because they act like they are so fast and quick but they aren't, unless you compare them to the looked down upon Civics.
A quick definition of a DSMer: A DSMer is someone who a DSM and takes good care of their vehicle does the maintenance, HELPS FELLOW DSMers. You do not have to be a DSM Guru to be a DSMer you just need to have a love for the vehicles, nor do you have to only own DSMs some of the best DSMers I know also have a muscle car sitting in the garage right next to the DSM. DSMers do not race each other for braggin rights, only for fun. If you race a DSMer and they have a car problem you help them get their car home. If you are not driving a DSM and you race a DSMer expect them to run as hard as they can against you, we like to not just win but blow the competitor out of the water.
If you have any questions about DSMs or why this car is not considered one or why is that car consider one feel free to ask and I will do my best to act like a preacher and preach the DSM truth.
