question about transmission and tranny fluid....

When should you get your transmission serviced? is it after so many miles? what about tranny fluid when should you get it completely flushed and filled back up? i own a 01' eclipse gt 3.0L v6 5speed, I got it when it had 83k miles on it now it has about 87k miles on it, i was thinking about changing the tranny fluid do i really need to? there hasen't been anything wrong with the tranny since i've got it, so should i change the fluid? or at the least get the tranny serviced? and i'm guessing if i get the tranny serviced they will drain and fill the tranny fluid back up, thanks for your time, later
